How Find a Cobbler makes money

Listings are never paid placements

• Every shop in the directory is listed because we verified it on its own website, not because it paid us.
• Payment never changes what a listing says, whether a shop is listed or marked verified, or the order of other shops.
• If we ever offer shops a paid spot, it will be labelled Featured (paid) everywhere it appears, and kept separate from the regular listings.

If we add affiliate links

We may later link to some retailers (for example shoe-care products or boots) through affiliate programs. If you buy through one of those links we may earn a commission, at no extra cost to you. When we do:

• We'll say so right next to the link, in plain words such as "paid link", not only on this page.
• We'll only add Amazon's required statement ("As an Amazon Associate we earn from qualifying purchases") if we join that program.
• Links to brands' own repair programs (such as Red Wing, Danner and White's) and to shops' own websites are not paid.

Verification doesn't depend on money

Our method is the same for every shop: we only mark a service or mail-in option as confirmed when the shop's own website shows it, every listing shows its sources and the date we checked, and we don't publish ratings or reviews. A commission or a payment can't buy a listing, a "verified" badge or a better description. See About & method.

Photo-quote pilot

Our photo-quote request is free for you and, during the pilot, free for the shops that receive requests. If that ever changes, we'll update this page.
